Marco Belardi

CEO and founder of GreenBoo Production

Born in 1973, Marco Belardi has been a movie enthusiastic since forever. He graduated at the Roberto Rossellini Cinema and Television Institute based in Rome. Just after the school he started attending the Cinecittà Movie Studios and dealing with several entertainment agencies.
After founding the Immaginando post-production group in 1996, in 1999 he was one of the two partners who created the SunFlower Production, a new company that managed with television and entertainment industry. 2003 was the year of the newborn Hangar, while in 2004 Marco Belardi founded Lotus Production, the company who signed his success in the movie and entertainment industry.
Several are the movies he produced: after “Amore 14” by Federico Moccia, the success arrived with “Immaturi” by Paolo Genovese (2010), “Immaturi il viaggio” (2012), “Una famiglia perfetta” (2013), “Tutta colpa di Freud” (2014), “The Place” (2017), “Supereroi” (2021), “Il primo giorno della mia vita” (2022). All directed by Genovese. The very most successful movie has been “Perfetti Sconosciuti” (2016), who got over 16mln€ at the box office and it’s the Italian movie most remade worldwide.
In 2015 the Leone Film Group bought the Lotus Production company, in this new suit Belardi started his partnership with some directors as Paolo Virzì and Gabriele Muccino. Here some films produced under their direction: ‘‘La pazza gioia” (2016) and “Notti magiche” (2018), directed by Paolo Virzì and “A casa tutti bene” (2018), “Gli anni più belli” (2020), “A casa tutti bene la serie” (2021), directed by Gabriele Muccino.

In December 2021, Marco Belardi left Lotus Production and Leone Film Group for establishing a new company, GreenBoo Production, with which he has already made several projects.
First and foremost, the nonfiction film “Ligabue. 30 anni in un giorno” directed by Marco Salom, and the theatrical show “Giorgio Panariello: la favola mia”, available on Netflix. For the cinema, in 2023 GreenBoo produced the movies “La guerra dei nonni” and “Come incasinare i tuoi genitori”, both directed by Gianluca Ansanelli, and the movie “Afrodite” directed by Stefano Lorenzi. GreenBoo also made “Califano”, interpreted by Leo Gassmann and directed by Alessandro Angelini, it is the biopic of the famous Italian singer Franco Califano, and was aired on 11th February 2024 in primetime on Rai1.

GreenBoo also produced two upcoming documentaries: “Libero”, in memory of the Italian actor Libero De Rienzo who died in 2021, and “Together”, a journey inside the women’s prison of Pozzuoli (Naples).
Among the projects currently under development there are the TV series based on “Cinema Paradiso”, written by the Academy Awards winning director Giuseppe Tornatore, the TV series for Sky “La Mala”, written by Stefano Sardo, Chiara Battistini and Paolo Bernardelli, a film co-produced with the UK and directed by Francesca Archibugi, and 00Khaby, a comedy starring TikTok superstar Khaby Lame.
